Most Popular Thickness

12 Mil DrySpace™

The 12 Mil DrySpaceis by far our most popular crawl space vapor barrier due to the all around versatility for light storage and superior moisture protection. The SilverBack DrySpace™ vapor barrier is the only crawl space vapor barrier on the market that is actual thickness measured at the plastic and not at the thread.

Spray Foam Insulation

Where NOT to use it -

Closed cell spray foam is a great product for sealing out every little air leak. But, it will hinder your ability to inspect the structure if it is installed in the rim (band) joist area of the crawl space. This issue will come into play when selling a home or getting a termite inspection.

Mold and Mildew

Quick Facts -

  • Mold can only be identified under a microscope
  • There are more than 100,000 different kinds of Mold
  • Bleach is NOT recommended to kill Mold on porous surfaces like wood

16 Mil SilverBack Residential

Residential Grade 16 Mil reinforced Crawl Space Vapor Barrier

Our new Residential Grade crawl space vapor barrier is made from the same material, manufacturing process and reinforcement as our commercial grade crawl space vapor barrier. The 16 Mil Residential Grade is rated as Medium duty, while our Commercial Grade is rated medium to heavy duty depending on which thickness. We chose to make the Residential Grade to fill a need for a lower cost crawl space vapor barrier, but of course you can still purchase the Commercial Grade if you wish. We work very hard to supply our customers with the products that meet their needs as well as their budget.

Due to the increased availability of low quality "white" plastic from China being sold as a crawl space vapor barrier we have decided to change how our American Made DrySpace vapor barriers looks. You still get the absolute best quality and performance as well as the technical support you need to install our products and answer your questions.

The Residential Grade 16 Mil SilverBack DrySpace is the best choice for most crawl spaces requiring a more durable vapor barrier. It will handle Medium storage requirements, or heavy storage if used with our Felt 550™ . This is one of our newest DrySpace vapor barrier for crawl spaces, designed to be lower cost and give high moisture protection. This product is string reinforced.

Phil Clark- Lexington, KY Purchased Purchased 4/29/08

Matt,

Thank you for the quick delivery of the supplies I ordered for encapsulating my crawl space.

The crawl space (13 feet by 24 feet) is under my family room and has an entrance that connects to my basement.  I wanted to encapsulate the crawl space to eliminate moisture and odor problems when I came across your web site.  Your site was very helpful and made me feel at ease in doing the work myself.  Also your web site made it very easy to order the supplies online.

I did all of the work by myself and found the hardest part getting myself in and out of the crawl space door!  I am pleased with the product and it seems to be doing the job.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Marie.

I was more than a little anxious and apprehensive about attempting this project a couple of days ago.  As I was saying before, the local “experts” had me believing this was rocket science and that their “system” was the only way to go, and that mere mortals could not attempt it.  BUT, the more info I got, and the more research I did, AND after talking to and getting the plethora of info from you guys at CSC, I’m psyched about going forward with this project and really look forward to accomplishing this goal myself.  My wife and I will be doing the work (with a little help from my 18 year old son, if he can pencil us into his busy schedule, LOL).

We’ll keep notes and will chronicle our adventure with lots of photos for you.

Thanks again!!!

Ken Proctor

All of the DrySpace vapor barriers are made from real, virgin polyethylene. We use the newest generation technology in making our vapor barrier to insure the best performance and that it will last a life time. Other vapor barriers on the market described by companies as a non-woven "material" or fabric are made from  polypropylene, which is a lower grade plastic than polyethylene. Polypropylene requires a number of additives in order to stabilize the plastic from early deterioration.
