Most Popular Thickness

12 Mil DrySpace™

The 12 Mil DrySpaceis by far our most popular crawl space vapor barrier due to the all around versatility for light storage and superior moisture protection. The SilverBack DrySpace™ vapor barrier is the only crawl space vapor barrier on the market that is actual thickness measured at the plastic and not at the thread.

Spray Foam Insulation

Where NOT to use it -

Closed cell spray foam is a great product for sealing out every little air leak. But, it will hinder your ability to inspect the structure if it is installed in the rim (band) joist area of the crawl space. This issue will come into play when selling a home or getting a termite inspection.

Mold and Mildew

Quick Facts -

  • Mold can only be identified under a microscope
  • There are more than 100,000 different kinds of Mold
  • Bleach is NOT recommended to kill Mold on porous surfaces like wood

12 Mil SilverBack Commercial Grade

Commercial Grade 12 Mil reinforced Crawl Space Vapor Barrier

Our original 12 Mil SilverBack DrySpacebrand crawl space vapor barrier is now known as our Commercial Grade 12 Mil SilverBack DrySpace! The front of the DrySpace is white and the back is Silver. Our Commercial Grade 12 Mil vapor barrier is true thickness, so our 12 Mil measures 12 Mil at the barrier not the string reinforcement. This is the product our contractors use in their professional installations.

Due to the increased availability of low quality "white" plastic from China being sold as a crawl space vapor barrier we have decided to change how our American Made DrySpace vapor barriers looks. You still get the absolute best quality and performance as well as the technical support you need to install our products and answer your questions.

The 12 Mil SilverBack DrySpace is the best all around choice for most crawl spaces. It will handle light to medium storage requirements as well as traffic for regular home maintenance. If the DrySpace is going to be installed over sharp stone consider installing our Felt 550 first to protect your DrySpace investment. This is the most popular DrySpace vapor barrier for crawl spaces due to its lower cost and high performance. This product is string reinforce.

Matt, John, and Jo,

I wanted to thank you for your help with the tips, techniques, and supplies in completing my crawl space project.  I received my last four prefab piers and completed to.  It turned out to be a much bigger project than expected, but I figured that while I was down there, I might as well do the job right.  The actual placement of the material I ordered from Crawl Space Concepts went down fairly quickly; it was all the other (ducting, plumbing, footings, etc.) that took forever.  I am sure it would have gone a lot faster if I had some help, but I couldn’t bring myself to ask anyone to go into the crawl space with me; it was not a fun job.

Thank you,

Paul Jacobsen

Thanks Marie.

I was more than a little anxious and apprehensive about attempting this project a couple of days ago.  As I was saying before, the local “experts” had me believing this was rocket science and that their “system” was the only way to go, and that mere mortals could not attempt it.  BUT, the more info I got, and the more research I did, AND after talking to and getting the plethora of info from you guys at CSC, I’m psyched about going forward with this project and really look forward to accomplishing this goal myself.  My wife and I will be doing the work (with a little help from my 18 year old son, if he can pencil us into his busy schedule, LOL).

We’ll keep notes and will chronicle our adventure with lots of photos for you.

Thanks again!!!

Ken Proctor

All of the DrySpace vapor barriers are made from real, virgin polyethylene. We use the newest generation technology in making our vapor barrier to insure the best performance and that it will last a life time. Other vapor barriers on the market described by companies as a non-woven "material" or fabric are made from  polypropylene, which is a lower grade plastic than polyethylene. Polypropylene requires a number of additives in order to stabilize the plastic from early deterioration.
